We’re The Remodeler In Central Massachusetts That Sees The BIG Picture. Every Component Of Your Home Is Interconnected.
Your home is more than just the sum of its parts. It’s almost like the body or even an ecosystem. If one component breaks down, it’s bound to have a ripple effect elsewhere in your home. That’s why we take a holistic approach to exterior remodeling.
No, we won’t burn any incense in your home, and we won’t try to use any essential oils on it, either.
What we WILL do is assess the entirety of your home to see if you have any seemingly unrelated issues that might share a common source.
If we do find something wrong, we make sure to correct the problem in its entirety. Most other contractors will repair ONLY what they came to fix and call it a day. We know from experience that’s not going to cut it.
For instance, if your roof has been leaking, there is likely more water damage you’re not seeing. The same goes for poorly sealed windows or gaps in your siding.
At Solid State Construction, we don’t rely on short-term, Band-Aid solutions. That’s why we investigate to determine the source of the problem and the FULL extent of the damage, so we can correct it…for good!
When Nothing Seems To Work
We’ve seen it plenty of times: homeowners who keep encountering the same issues over and over again, even after hiring contractors for repairs MULTIPLE times.
Whether it’s a persistent leak in your ceiling or a window you’ve had to replace three times in ten years, the source of the problem is obviously not being corrected if the damage keeps coming back.
In the case of roofing and siding, your problem might be your contractors. If your installers are not following procedure to a “t”, there is a BIG chance they will mess up, leaving your home vulnerable to water damage and other problems.
That’s why we ALWAYS inspect the work of the previous contractors when we install new siding or roofing on homes in Central MA. We’ve had to undo the shoddy work of contractors who came before us more times than we can count.
Regardless of how many times we do it, it gets no less frustrating, especially because it usually means the home has undergone a lot of unnecessary damage.
Sometimes the previous contractors did a poor job, and sometimes it’s just a matter of them having overlooked a minor problem that has since become major. Either way, the homeowners lose money and often their patience.
That’s why it’s always better to hire thorough contractors the first time around. An attempt to save a few dollars now can end up costing SUBSTANTIALLY more down the line.
Order Of Operations
If you’ve been having issues with siding, windows, or roofing for a long time, the damage is probably not entirely local. Water seeps anywhere it can get, and it RUINS wood.
Before we can replace the siding or shingles in question, we have to take a look underneath. If we find severe water damage, much less rotted wood, the damage has spread, and there is more work to be done.
Finding out you have water damage isn’t ideal, but it is extremely important to identify and take care of it as soon as possible. Water damage won’t get better until you replace the damaged wood, and the longer you wait, the worse it will be.
While replacing any part of your frame or walls can be expensive, you can at least rest easy knowing the problem has actually been solved this time.
Not only that, but you shouldn’t replace your siding or roofing until the internal and structural damage has been fixed.
If you leave the rotted wood but replace the roof or siding, you’re just sweeping a SERIOUS mess under the rug. The damage will still be there, getting worse beneath the surface.
